When it comes to supplements, how colostrum is collected and processed matters. The way it’s handled directly impacts its bioavailability—the ability of your body to absorb and benefit from its 400+ bioactive nutrients.
At TBR Labs, we follow strict, science-backed methods to ensure our grass-fed, first-milking bovine colostrum retains its maximum potency. Below, we walk through the step-by-step colostrum collection and processing flow so you can see exactly what makes our products safe, effective, and high-quality.
Step 1: Ethical Collection from Certified U.S. Dairy Herds
Our colostrum comes from USDA-certified dairy farms where cows give birth year-round, ensuring a consistent, fresh supply. These cows are raised without hormones or antibiotics, and their feed is grown in DDT-free soil.
We only collect first-milking colostrum, which is richest in immunoglobulins, growth factors, and peptides. Importantly, calves are always given their fill first to ensure their survival and health. After collection, colostrum is cooled below 40°F and frozen to lock in freshness until it reaches our processing facility.
Step 2: Quality Testing for Purity & Potency
Every batch is sampled and assayed to meet strict standards for:
-
Bioactivity and potency
-
Purity (tested for GMOs, antibiotics, heavy metals, and pesticides)
-
Freshness and nutrient density
TBR Labs tests for quality multiple times throughout the process, ensuring every batch of colostrum is safe, clean, and effective.
Step 3: Gentle Pasteurization for Safety
Like all dairy products, colostrum must be pasteurized for microbial safety. We use HTST (high-temperature, short-time) pasteurization, also known as flash pasteurization. This method kills pathogens while preserving the delicate proteins and immunoglobulins that make colostrum so beneficial.
Step 4 & 5: Cooling, Homogenization, and Spray Drying
After pasteurization, colostrum is cooled to 45°F, homogenized, and then spray dried into a stable powder. This step is performed under Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), with microbiological analysis done on every batch.
Step 6: Secure Packaging
The colostrum powder is sifted directly into double-lined polyethylene bags and sealed inside corrugated boxes. This prevents contamination and ensures long shelf life.
Step 7: Advanced Immunoglobulin Testing
Each batch is rigorously tested to measure immunoglobulin levels (IgG), using advanced techniques like Ion Exchange HPLC-IX or Radial Immunodiffusion (RID). Calibration is done with bovine IgG standards to ensure precision.
Step 8: Final Quality Assurance Review
Only after passing all tests and a final Quality Assurance review is the product released. This ensures every scoop of TBR Labs colostrum is safe, potent, and ready to deliver maximum gut health, immunity, recovery, and anti-aging support.
Why This Matters
Unlike many supplements, colostrum’s effectiveness depends on how it’s processed. From ethical sourcing to gentle pasteurization and advanced quality testing, TBR Labs follows the most rigorous standards to protect colostrum’s natural power.
